Les lucioles (The Fireflies)

Around the corner suddenly appear the imposing multicoloured outlines of the stiltwalkers, like huge birds.  

Tall and thin, they are animal like with their faces partly hidden behind long tapering masks which resemble beaks on their heads.

 These birds of mysterious languages communicate amongst themselves with signs and coded choreography which adds grace to their movements.  They fly, unfurl their wings, turn and swoop, soaring majestically, planting in the middle of nowhere their courtship ballets, their ritual dances, their dazzling chases. 

They group suddenly, full of life, preparing for a great voyage over the vast horizon.

A precious moment, oh!  Time – stand still !  Their silky finery reflects the sumptuous brilliance of the light. 

Sublime by day or by night when they can be accompanied advantageously by fireworks for a totally magical experience.
